I have been contemplating writing a new lifestyle/mom blog since I found out I was pregnant with baby number 2. Our first is 2.5 years old, and she is the sweetest, but a handful. She is a toddler after all. I’m almost 26 weeks now and just getting started on the blog because I have been sick with hyperemesis for most of my pregnancy.
It has started to get better and most days I am only nauseous in the morning, and feel better once I eat and have my latte. Some days though, I can’t seem to kick the nausea.
You’re probably wondering why I am calling my first blog post “My Life in Chicken.” Well, when I was in the throws of the worst of the hyperemesis, I was in bed for 23.5 hours of my day. The 30 minutes I got out of bed was to run to the bathroom…. I had days where I could manage to stomach a little food, and for some reason, I had a weird craving for rotisserie chicken. You know, the kind they sell already cooked at the grocery store. Tony would shred it up and bring it to me in ramekins.
In my dehydrated, delirious, exhausted state, I would lay in bed contemplating why I thought having baby number two was a good idea, among other things. One of those other things was how I was managing to grow a human with no food, no water, and tons of nausea medicine. And then I realized that I was surviving on little bits of protein, namely in the form of rotisserie chicken. That’s where the idea for my “My Life in Chicken” was born. In my bed, around 10 weeks pregnant with our baby boy, who is due in April.
I don’t know where this blog will go… what kinds of posts I will write… other than I want this to be a lifestyle/mom blog. I hope to share the hilarities of motherhood, the wins and fails, and all that goes along with raising a toddler and newborn. I hope you will follow along and enjoy the stories I share. With toddlers around you can’t make this stuff up. <3
